Geologists of the National Environment Agency study the landslide processes intensified in Gudamakari on site

Geology

Geologists of the National Environment Agency under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture have been in Gudamakari since morning and are conducting on the spot study of landslide processes developed on the section of Oshpiteli-Gudamakari highway.

On March 23 of the current year, on the road connecting Gudamakari gorge, near the so-called "Oshpiteli", the rock fall type of landslide body was triggered and activated that was provoked by the abundant rainfall in the valley in recent days.

This process led to the closure of the highway. As a result, the traffic in the settlements in the gorge is blocked.

In order to assess the situation, the geologists of the National Environment Agency promptly carried out initial studies of the target area and issued relevant recommendations for protective measures, in particular, clearing the road, demolition of unit boulders on the slope and subsequent arrangement of slope protection metal net.
