A group of geologists from the National Environment Agency conducts on the spot study of landslide processes developed in Tsageri
Geology
The group of geologists of the Western Georgia Regional Service of the National Environment Agency under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is in Tsageri municipality and is studying the landslide processes on the Lailashi-Ghu connecting highway on site.
Deteriorating meteorological conditions and prolonged rains provoked large-scale landslides in the area. The collapsed mass damaged the highway and cut off 10 families from the outside world.
The geologists of the Agency operatively conducted the initial studies, as a result of which it was determined that there is an activation of an old large-scale landslide.
Due to the scale of the landslide and difficult meteorological conditions, the above-mentioned road cannot be restored at this stage and an alternative road corridor connecting to the village is being selected with active involvement of the group of geologists of the National Environment Agency. Information on the current situation was provided to the relevant authorities.
