National Environment Agency has issued a three-year license for use of Galanthus (Snowdrop Flower) bulbs

Licenses

The National Environment Agency has issued a license through an auction for use of Galanthus bulbs for a period of three years.

Snowdrop Flower bulbs are exported from Georgia to several European countries, most of them to the Netherlands.

The issuance of a license by the National Environment Agency was preceded by surveys to determine quotas.

According to the issued license conditions, the licensed limit (quota) of snowdrop flower bulbs will be fully utilized and exported, which will help increase the country's export potential and employ local population. The final price of the lot put up for auction was 290,400 GEL.

Galanthus bulb is included in the appendices to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The Convention regulates international trade of endangered specimens of flora and fauna and represents a multilateral treaty for the protection of endangered plants and animals.
