To improve the forecast of the expected amount and intensity of precipitation, the National Environmental Agency purchased modern meteorological radar

The National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, with the financial support of the Government of Georgia, has purchased the meteorological radar of modern standards, which will be located in eastern Georgia, near Kiketi.

The total cost of the project is 4 241 336 GEL. The radar is manufactured by one of the world's leading Finnish companies "VAISALA".

The new meteorological radar will be able to determine the amount and intensity of precipitation expected in almost the entire territory of Eastern Georgia, which will ensure timely delivery of forecast information and warnings about the possible natural disasters caused by them to the relevant agencies.

The radar is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of this year;

At this stage, technical and installation works are underway.

A similar radar was purchased last year by the National Environmental Agency with the financial support of the United States Government and placed near the city of Kutaisi.
