September 18th is the World Water Monitoring Day!
Environmental pollution monitoring
September 18th is World Water Monitoring Day. On this day, specialists from the Environmental Pollution Monitoring Department of the National Environmental Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture took water samples from the Aragvi River.
Physico-chemical ingredients have been determined in the samples taken, while organic and inorganic contaminants and heavy metals will be tested in the agency laboratory, the results of which will be known in a few days.
The World Water Monitoring Day was established in 2003 by the American Clean Water Foundation (ACWF) and has been celebrated annually ever since. This day aims to raise public awareness and their involvement in the protection of the world's water resources.
It is noteworthy that the National Environmental Agency has taken significant steps to improve water quality monitoring. The Agency's Atmospheric Air, Water and Soil Analysis Laboratory was equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, which expanded the monitoring network and increased the number of parameters to be determined.
