Aquaculture

Fisheries research in marine and inland waters of Georgia - assessment of fish stocks and setting catch limits, analysis of fishing nets and tools and methods, analysis of fisheries statistics;

Promoting aquaculture development (including mariculture and ecological aquaculture) and sustainable fisheries;

Study and monitoring of fish, marine mammals and associated hydrofauna, planktonic and benthic invertebrates, planktonic and benthic algal flora, macrobiota of the Georgian Black Sea continental shelf, territorial sea and Exclusive Economic Zone;

Study and monitoring of Georgia’s inland water bodies’ (lakes, reservoirs, lagoons, estuaries, rivers, wetlands) biodiversity (fish, associated hydrofauna, planktonic and benthic invertebrates, planktonic and benthic alginophores, microbiota); 

Elaboration of proposals for protection, restoration and prudent management of hydrobionts and aquatic habitats, including assessment of species’ conservation status, participation in the update of the Georgia’s Red List.
